Fun Summer Food Activities To Do With Your Child!

We hosted our first lunch bunch!

Hi There Well Fed Feeding Families!

I hope you are enjoying this amazing summer weather! We have been spending lots of time in our pool and had an awesome day at Seabrook Beach this past weekend.

I am excited to share that Well Fed hosted its first "Lunch Bunch" event this week, and it was a great success! The group was held outdoors in the beautiful summer weather and featured a fun and engaging yogurt painting activity. We dyed the yogurt with food coloring and used asparagus as our paintbrushes, sparking creativity and joy in our little artists. The group had a blast naming colors, experimenting with color mixing, practicing our fine motor skills by cutting up our fruit, exploring new textures and tastes, all while getting a bit messy and having fun. This group will be hosted every Monday at 12:30 on the grass next to 1B Commons Drive in Londonderry. We are looking forward to seeing even more kiddos join us next time!

Gorgeous artwork that is also edible!

As summer continues, here are three easy and enjoyable outdoor food play activities you can try with your child:

  1. Fruit and Veggie Stamps: Cut fruits and vegetables (like apples, potatoes, and bell peppers) in half or cut them out using https://amzn.to/3ygqTK8, dip them in paint, and let your child create colorful prints on paper.

  2. Sensory Bin with Cooked Pasta: Cook different types of pasta, cool them down, and add a bit of food coloring. Let your child explore the different textures and colors in a sensory bin. Grab some measuring cups and spoons, toss in some toy cars and animals, and play some games like hide and seek by burying the toys under all the pasta

Be ready for any sensory bin with these super cool animal toys: https://amzn.to/3Ly7Mya

  3. Junior Bake Off - Frozen Treat Edition: Have a popsicle tasting competition by having each person make their own secret smoothie recipe. Add different frozen fruits, frozen spinach, peanut or nut butter, chia seeds, honey (if older than 12 months) or maple syrup, milk etc. Blend it all up and pour it into some popsicle molds for a nice cold treat while you decide who is the top chef!
